The University of Texas at Austin opened in 1883 with one building, eight professors, 221 students — and a mission to change the world. Today, UT is a world-renowned institution of higher education, research, and public service with more than 51,000 students in 18 top-ranked colleges and schools. UT sits in the heart of one of America’s most vibrant, artistic and entrepreneurial cities, Austin. Here are 46 incubators, accelerators, maker and co-working spaces; more than 5,500 high technology companies; and a rich sense of community. In Austin, entrepreneurs go out of their way to help other entrepreneurs.
At LaunchX UT, you will develop your own company while experiencing life on a university campus. You will learn as much as you can about your target market and customers, create a valuable solution, and build an organization. Along the way, you will be able to learn from and collaborate with other LaunchX students from across the United States, university students, UT instructors in multiple colleges, and entrepreneurs from Austin and other cities. Your UT headquarters will be the new flagship engineering building, with multi-media workspaces, lab classrooms, and a massive new makerspace that will let your team design, build and test almost any kind of product.
At UT we have an important saying, and it applies to you and your work too: “What starts here, changes the world.”
