LaunchX, a leader in empowering youth entrepreneurship, is thrilled to announce the expansion of its prestigious AwardX high school entrepreneurship competition to East Africa with the launch of 2025 AwardX East Africa. This initiative will provide young innovators across the region with an unprecedented opportunity to develop and showcase their business ideas on a global stage.
AwardX East Africa will empower and reward high school students in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and beyond.
The AwardX competition is open to all high school students who have an entrepreneurial mindset to submit a real business or business idea to compete in this year's competition. An initial round of judging will choose 10 finalists who will go onto the Demo Day where they will pitch and answer questions live in front of a panel of judges. This year, LaunchX will give away $2,000 cash prizes plus scholarship to the LaunchX programs.
“We are excited to bring AwardX to East Africa, a region rich with innovation and entrepreneurial potential,” said Thomas Clapper, Marketing Manager at LaunchX. “By providing young founders with access to this competition, we aim to inspire and accelerate the growth of youth-driven startups that can create real impact in their communities and beyond.”
A new audience vote component is added to this competition as well. Students can upload a 60 second pitch video to be shown on the AwardX YouTube channel where the community can vote with their watches, likes, and shares. The winner will be announced at Demo Day and will receive a $1,500 scholarship to LaunchX.
Applications for AwardX East Africa are open, with the competition culminating in a high-profile pitch event where finalists will present their ventures to a panel of industry experts and investors on April 11.
